Study in Canada requirements

  • Step 1: Understand the Requirements
    1. A valid passport,
    2. proficiency in language: English or French along with the scorecard of IELTS with minimum grades/bands,
    3. Proof of funds that you can bear your study fee along with the cost of living in the country.

  • Step 2: Choose your Course and Institution
    After choosing an institution and finalizing the course the first ascertain its status as a Designated Learning Institution. Only DLIs can admit foreign students.You will be required to finalize a specific course for yourself. The Canadian academic setup is flexible towards switching courses. Inspect about the entrance exam, pay the fee, and book your dates well in advance.

  • Step 3: Give the Language Proficiency Test:
    In order to meet the eligibility criteria and successfully gain entry into Canada, you will have to prove proficiency in English or French.
    1. IELTS is the common test to check proficiency in English, while some institutions also accepting TOEFL exam scores.
    2. For French, you can opt for CELPIP, DALF, DELF, or TCF.
    You will have to brush up on your English language skills so your application does not get rejected.

  • Step 4: Select the Universities and apply
    Now after finalizing the college it’s time to give a look at your shortlist universities, Identify your preferred course and institution, compare them and select one or two alternatives as backups. Obtain their application form and submit them well in advance. Consider the application fee for the selected course, which varies from $100 to $250.
    Note: Be careful while filling the application form and make sure you enter accurate information with proper documentary evidence.

  • Step 5: Apply for a Study Permit/Visa
    Now when your institution is ready to admit you, it is time to apply for the Canada Study Permit. You can apply online or approach Aptech visa for the application centre. Your application must be accompanied by the acceptance letter received in the previous step, your passport, and documentary proof that you have adequate finances to study in Canada.If you have applied for college in the province of Quebec, then you will also receive, acceptance letter, along with a “Certificate d’acceptation du Québec” (CAQ). Make sure you include this document in your study permit application.

  • Step 6: Study Time
    The immigration officer will examine your permit and other documents at the entrance port then they’ll allow you to enter Canada. This is the final step of the immigration formalities and now you can focus on your studies as an international student in Canada.

Canada study General requirement course/ program wise

For / Diploma / Certificate courses

  1. Flexible admission
  2. IELTS score: 6 / 6.5 overall - As per the course and institution requirement.
  3. Valid passport
  4. Academic transcript: Mark sheet of 10th and 12th and if you’re applying for PG diploma then mark sheet of graduation should be attached.
  5. Proof of funds.

For Undergraduate/Bachelors level

  1. 60% in 12th grade
  2. TOEFL : PBT: 580-600 min. (depends upon course)
  3. CBT: 237-250 min. (depends upon course)
  4. 12th-grade level Maths,
  5. Proof of funds

For Post-Graduate/Masters courses/ Research

  1. 2-3 years full-time work experience
  2. IELTS score: 6.5 overall with no bands less than 6
  3. TOEFL : PBT: 580-600 min. (depends upon course)
  4. 3-4 yr Bachelor’s degree,
  5. 65% average percentage.
  6. Some institutions may require written samples/copies of published work/Portfolio

Requirements to Study in Canada

There are some of the other requirements to study in Canada:

  1. should enroll at a designated learning institution (DLI)
  2. if you’re an international student, then your DLI will have to be on the list of DLIs with an approved COVID-19 readiness plan
  3. give proof of your fund:
    a. tuition fees expense
    b. living expenses for yourself and any family members if they come with you to Canada, and
  4. return transportation for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada
  5. have no prior criminal record, should obey the law, and get a police verification certificate
  6. should be in good health and get a medical exam and
  7. give an application that you will leave Canada when your study permit expires
