Australia allows two additional years to post-study work for Migrant students
The Australian Government planned to extend post-study work rights for immigrating students to utilize their skills in their industries.
"Important announcement from the floor of the Jobs and Skills Summit – we will increase by two years post-study work rights for international students who graduate from Australian universities in areas of verified skills shortage," Australia’s Minister for Education Jason Clare tweeted.
This rule change will ease the bachelor’s degree graduates to stay in Australia for four years, master’s graduates will now be able to stay for five years, and Ph.D. holders are allowed to reside here for six years previously after studying stay for different programs was two years for undergraduate, master’s graduates for three years, and doctoral students for four years. This change will definitely advantage the migrant students in Australia.
The Aussie government is likely to announce more extension time to degrees as per the reports, including nursing, engineering, and IT students will be priority areas.
“They’re the graduates that the government believes Australia needs, and they can go straight into a sector where there is a shortage of high-skilled workers,” a spokesperson for Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil told SBS News. Australia needs to better use the amazing resource of international students.”
